Marvel LOLCats

I can haz Marvel?  Recently, several artists and cartoonists, including Ryan Penagos (Marvel.com Editor), Chris Eliopoulos, Katie Cook, Skottie Young, and Mike Maihack, have been creating drawings of popular Marvel characters as cats (and the occasional dog).  If you’re on Twitter (and really who isn’t), follow the hashtag #mrvlcats to see more as they’re posted, but here’s a selection of Marvel LOLCats already out in the world.

Ant-Man

I’ve never been a fan of Ant-Man myself, but I guess somebody at Marvel had to be.

Avengers Assemble

Great picture of the Avengers drawn as cats.  Catvengers is the perfect name for them too.

Banshee

I don’t know any way to turn this X-Man’s name into a cat version, but I instantly found this one hilarious.

Captain America

I think this one was called Catain America, but either way it’s adorable and I now want to dress up a cat as Steve Rogers for Halloween.

Cloak and Dagger

The way they drew both of these characters makes me think they should think long and hard about changing the direction of their actual comic books.  I would read Cat Cloak and Dagger.

Colossus

Such a great drawing of a perennial X-Men favorite.  While I’m glad they brought Colossus back from the dead, I can’t say I’m disappointed they didn’t turn him into a cat.  Great drawing either way though.

Constrictor

A lesser known character from the Marvel universe, it’s still a great drawing of what I’ve always considered the poor man’s Omega Red.  Good job of making him look villainous though.

Cyclops

Sorta wish they’d gone with a more modern costume for Cyclops, but I have to say that I am glad no cat I’ve owned is able to shoot beams from its eyes.  That would not end well.

Daredevil

I think Daredevil would be better as a cat.  Sure he’s blind, but cat’s are so agile he wouldn’t need enhanced senses…he’d have feline senses.

Dazzler

Wait, Dazzler is still around?  Wow, my mind is blown.

Deadpool

Ok, so it’s a dog – Dogpool if you would – but it’s still adorable.  Deadpool has always been mischievous, and this dog’s look certainly upholds that.

Dormammu

I’m not overly familiar with the mystical characters of the Marvel universe, but this looks like a pretty faithful depiction to me.  A battle between him and Dr. Strange would give new meaning to cat fight.  Eh?  Eh?

Dr. Strange

Speak of the Sorcerer Supreme, this cat doesn’t look to be inspiring confidence in his ability to bend mystical energies to his will.  I’m thinking Dormammu is going to win this one.

Elektra

Daredevil’s on again off again girlfriend is sure to make short work of any scratching post.

Galactus

This begins a string of Galactus Marvel LOLCats.  The first one is the drawing that started it all.

Catlactus is in your galaxies eating your planets.

This Catlactus appears to be playing with its food.

Catlactus will destroy your city

Not sure if Catlactus is eating or cleaning the planet.

Gambit

I sorta thought a cat version of Gambit would be a tomkat.  Just saying.

Ghost Rider

The movie was terrible (sorry Marvel but it was), but these two pictures of Ghost Rider are great.

My favorite part?  Cat Rider’s motorcycle is now a tricycle.

Reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes comic as much as anything.

The Incredible Hulk

Sad thing?  There really are cats this big out there.

Bob, Agent of HYDRA

Deadpool’s faithful of helpless sidekick.

Iceman

One of the original X-Men.  It’s kinda hard to actually see Iceman in this drawing.  Also a completely unbelievable character as every cat I’ve ever known has gone to great lengths to be warm.

Iron Fist

More like Iron Paw.  His terrible Iron Paw shall destroy that squeaky mouse toy.

King Pin

They really do need to change everybody in the Daredevil universe over to cats.  It’s a perfect fit for all of them.

Shadowcat and Lockheed

Kitty and Lockheed are great friends, allies, and members of the X-Men

Luke Cage

I’m really glad that Cage dropped the Power Man name and went for a less disco costume

Poor Power Man.  You can’t be intimidating in that outfit.

Still sporting the Power Man outfit, and afro, but at least this time he’s showing off his powers.

Magneto

Aluminum will always be the mortal foe of Cat Magneto

Mr. Sinister

Isn’t every cat sorta Mr. Sinister?

Ms. Marvel

Carol Danvers has gone through a lot of changes in the comics, but she’s never been a cat that I’m aware of.

Mystique

A couple of great shots of Mystique.  These are especially appropriate as Professor Xavier named his cat Mystique in the Ultimate X-Men title.

This cat is ready to fight.

Nick Fury

Nick would be some grizzled old cat.

Northstar and Aurora

The twins from their time in the Canadian superhero group Alpha Flight.

Nova and the Vision

I’m not overly familiar with Nova, but I do know that the Vision was an Avenger and was married to the Scarlet Witch at one time.

Omega Red

I really want to see a fight between Omega Red and Constrictor

Rhino

One of Spider-Man’s old villains rears his head.

Rogue

Everyone’s favorite southern belle X-Man.

Old school Rogue before she gained control of her powers when Marvel went through its tights and jackets phase in costumes.

It makes sense if the X-Men are cats to make a Sentinel into a dog.

Sinister Six

A gathering of some of Spider-Man’s greatest foes.  Electro cat is hilarious.

Spider-Man and Sandman

I actually feel kind of bad for Sandman.  That’s just demeaning.

Spider-Man

Does this mean they’re going to change Black Cat to something that isn’t a cat?

The Punisher

So much rage.

Thor

The god of thunder and lightning isn’t such a fan of getting wet.

Uatu

Pretty much every cat is a Watcher.

Venom

I dated a girl that had a cat that I’m not entirely sure wasn’t possessed by a Venom symbiote.  Evil little bastard.

Wolverine

A cat with adamantium claws would destroy everything you own.  He would be the best there is at what he does, and what he does wouldn’t be very nice.
